Website Wednesday #5 - Gaming sites
Speed Demos Archive is a website dedicated to archiving speed runs of all video games, and hosting the videos of the successful runs, which you can watch either via the embedded flash videos, or downloading them in higher qualities. It also features a forum with many hints and tips to help you start runs of your own.
This site catalogs the lastest craze in gaming: Live streaming video marathons for charity. Groups of gamers are banding together to play games for 24 to 72 hours at a time, with little to no breaks, while using the Internet to stream their progress of the games played. With viewers given the chance to donate to charity, and over £20,000 raised so far, hopefully this craze will continue for a long time.
Kongregate is a flash game portal, where users can submit their created games with the opportunity to win cash prizes, as voted by the people who play them. Users can also sign up to the site to win badges and points by playing the games on the site, where certain challenges unlock virtual cards used to play the sites ‘online CCG’ Kongai.
Website Wednesday #4 - How does it work?
Lab Rats is a video podcast explaining technology in a simple context. Give it a look and start understanding your computer today!

Website Wednesday #3 - Video
Vreel is a new video website which is currently in the beta stages, it uses the Divx web video plugin. The site to me bares some resemblance to the now closed down Stage6.
It is an excellent because it allows for high resolution quality video, something which many video sharing websites fail to offer.
You can register for a free account to share your videos, or you could simply just checkout what is on offer.
