PS3 System Software 2.0 released!

Today Sony released firmware 2.0, it has some nice new features - lets look at them…

PlayStation Network - New menu

Account management has moved from the Friends menu in to the new PlayStation Network menu, also accompanied by the PlayStation store from the Network menu.

Theme adjustments - More customization

You can now change the theme colour, brightness and you can chose from Original, Rounded or Pop font

Make your own PS3 Theme

In addition to the ‘air paint’ theme which came with the update (see below image) you can now create and install your own themes by downloading the official tool! http://au.playstation.com/support/ps3/faqs/PS3_Custom_Theme_v101-E.zip

Information Board - Get the PS3 news on your PS3!


To open the information board (the scrolling text thing in the top right hand corner) go to Network -> Information board. The information board currently provides links which open in the browser, but I am sure it is possible downloads could be distributed this way in future?

Select your appropriate language *this can be changed at any time by pressing Triangle*.

If you do not want the information board to be displayed go back to the information board in Network, press triangle - Do Not Display.

Playlists - Sort your music, photos & videos

At last! we can now organise our files on the PS3!! -The PS3 now has a playlist function which appears in the music, photo and video menus.

PSP turns on PS3!

The PSP can now remotely turn on the PS3 over a wireless network, so long as the PS3 is in standby and not physically switched off!

- Well those are the new features…pretty cool eh?
