ADMIN NOTE: The development of Mythos was suspended by flagship studios due to financial issues.

With World of Warcraft top priority on Blizzard’s list the likelihood of Diablo 3 seems to be near nonexistent. Nether the less, fans of the series may be in for a treat as a game currently in beta looks to be the next best thing.

I’ve yet to play Mythos but judging by the screenshots it appears to have many similarities to Diablo such as; the perspective, interface, items and the fantasy style world that it’s set in. The game is under development by Flagship Studios (a company founded by the original developers of Diablo) and should be released sometime this year. The game will have both single and multiplayer capabilities and is expected to be free to download and play.

The game is sure to be a hit, not with just Diablo fans but anyone into the whole action RPG genre, if that’s you keep an eye on Mythos.

PS3 price cuts & 40gb value pack is released

October 11, 2007 · Filed Under Gaming, PS3 · Comment

ps3.jpgSony has cut the 60gb PS3 model down to £349 and released their 40gb PS3 value pack, be warned though, other then the 20gb capacity difference there are more significant differences, the 40gb PS3 version has had PS2 backwards compatability removed, also the memory card reader has been removed and super audio cd’s will not play either.

PS3 comparison table

featuretable.jpg

These are very significant differences for £50, also it just makes plain sense to get the 60gb model over the less featured 40gb model, as it comes with 2 games included, and no these aren’t bad games, I just checked the game titles available as part of the offer on amazon, you won’t be dissapointed with great titles such as Heavenly Sword, Resistance: fall of man and motorstorm.

It honestly doesn’t make any sense to get the 40gb over the 60gb, your gonna want to get at least 2 games for the PS3 right? even the 20gb model over in the states has more features then the 40gb model (other then the capacity) and that did not catch on at all over there, I predict that this 40gb model will not sell so well, unless of course there is a more significant price cut.

Heavenly Sword Review

hs.jpgHere’s something I have not done for a long time (a review, or post for that matter)

Anyway moving on…I just completed Ninja Theorys PS3 title Heavenly Sword and I must say it is one of the best PS3 titles I have played!

The game has terrific graphics, stunning artwork and superb character animation thanks to the use of advanced motion capturing comprised of 60 cameras, the very same technology responsible for gollum of lord of the rings, in fact Andy Serkis, gollum himself is dramatic Director and plays King Bohan in Heavenly Sword!

My favourite bit of the gameplay will have to be the use of the sixaxis motion sensing to guide arrows shot by kai (the crazy sidekick of Nariko) or objects thrown by Nariko, I think more games should make use of the sixaxis like this.

What isnt so good?

Well playing against the groups of bad guys in between the bosses does get a bit repetitive, though there are slight changes depending on the characters, button mashing for ages isn’t that fun.

I completed the game in about 3 days, I reckon it could be completed in one sitting, but don’t take that the wrong way, this is definatley a PS3 game worth getting.

We think this game deserves a rating of 9.5/10
